About Me

I grew up in Kangemi in kikuyu county and
went to primary school in kangemi in kikuyu
County. After school I went to Eldoret and did
casual labor in construction. In 1987 I came to
Muranga and got employed by the Kenya Tea
Development Authority(KTDA) and worked there
from 1987 to 2002. The entrepreneurial bug
made me leave employment and start a second
hand clothes business in Eldoret from 2002 to
2003. After 2003, business went down because
of county council harassment. I went back home
in Muranga and in 2004 got employed as a
casual labourer in a farm. I came to Nairobi in
December 2005 and started selling onions and
bananas in Githurai. I did this for 2 years. Later I
started a shoe shine business with Ksh. 5,000.
Besides it I opened a small hardware shop and
started making cook stoves. I expanded and
rented a store in 2009 which I still use as a
workshop. I used to earn Kshs 8,000 per month
from the business 5 years. My income has since
grown to about Ksh. 30,000 per month.

My Business

My business sells improved cookstoves and
secondhand hardware items. I decided to start my
business to eke a living and improve the standard
of living of my family. My customers are mostly
individual customers from within Nairobi. My goals
for the business is for it to expand and open at
least four outlets in the next four years and have an
increased production capacity for cookstoves and
metal products.

Loan Proposal

Buy and stock metal sheets for making stoves clad
which cost KES ,4000 and improved cookstoves
liners which cost KES 2000. KES 1000 will go
to two new employees.
