About Me

My name is Rosemary Gichuki. I live in Nairobi Kenya. I am employed as a Manager in a company where we process and sell bottle drinking water.

I am a single mum of two young adults who have left the nest. It wasn't easy bringing them up, and I tried all kind of businesses to make ends meet. So they have their own lives now and I would encourage all the single mums and dads here never to give up. Always give your best. I used to hawk clothes and beauty products in between jobs.

Two years ago, I was running a boutique for second hand clothes. Covid came and I was forced to close the shop because business was very low and I couldn't afford to continue paying the rent and the shop attendant. My stock is still in the house and I want to re-open the same now as somehow business have started coming up. I was buying bales of women and children clothes and selling on retail.

The beauty with women and children clothes is that people do frequent impromptu buying compared to men's clothes.

My passion is farming. In a few years I want to farm fulltime for the local and international markets. I believe there is good returns when done well.

My Business

Currently I am employed and at the same time I make snacks at home and sell to my friends and colleagues. I am also called upon to cook for guests in my fiends or relatives homes when hey have a function.

Project Proposal

Sourcing Inventory: A significant portion of the funds will go towards acquiring second-hand clothing items for ladies and children from wholesalers. This will build up an inventory of high-quality, desirable items to sell.

Quality Control and Cleaning: Before selling, the clothing need to be inspected for any damages or defects. Funds will be allocated for repairs, alterations, and thorough cleaning to ensure that the items are in excellent condition.

E-commerce Platform: I am gearing towards an online store, funds will be used to set up and maintain the e-commerce platform. This includes website development, hosting, payment processing fees, and any necessary software or tools.

Marketing and Promotion: A portion of the funds will be dedicated to marketing and advertising efforts. This will include social media advertising, search engine optimization, content creation, and promotional materials to attract customers.

Community Involvement: Part of the funds will be set aside for community engagement and charitable activities. This involves donating clothing to those in need.

Operational Costs: These funds will cover day-to-day operational expenses such as utilities, packaging materials, and shipping costs.

Contingency and Reserve: I will keep a portion of the funds in reserve for unexpected expenses or emergencies that may arise during the course of the project.

Sales Projections: I estimate the monthly sales to go up by about 20% based on my market research and pricing strategy.
