My name is lorine abongo, am currently in Kisumu county siaya district running my poultry business. I was born and raised in Kisumu county where I schooled to high school level.
I later joined maseno university and graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology and information technology.
Currently am the one taking care of my family after my father's demise, my other siblings are in school and they all depend on my business to survive and education.
Obongos Poultry Farm is a farm business located in Siaya Kisumu county, The business is a old established farm founded by my late dad Mr Titus obongo, my mother Mrs obongo and elder late brother Mr agwins obongo, As native of lake side, the couple has spent their life in the farming industry working as fisher men as fishing was the common practice.
My father started poultry farming due to availability of Fish Meal feeds, locally known as 'ochonga' The fish meal feeds was flooded in the area as farmers harvest fish and their feeds which are the small imature fish are left to rot by the lake side, Dad was wise and used the feeds to rare chickens. Since then he inspired families to establish poultry farms throughout Siaya and Kisumu region.
I took over the farm after it was almost collapsing due to my mother getting old and stressed after the recent demise of my brother.
I have also noticed a shortage of eggs within the region and decided to take this opportunity to alleviate the poultry shortage as well as finally establish the farm and take it to another level as they were planning to do for the many years they lived.
My plan is to set the business operations centered around daily processes and procedures to tend to the chickens and prepare them for packaging for resale and distribution of eggs on a daily basis.
The following are the products that we are currently producing and plan to expand and will provide as soon as we get funds to do so:
Chicken for consumption
Eggs
Breeding
and selling of one day old to point of lay chiks.
I thank you for the funds, I will now use half the money to restock my retail shop with rice, sugar and dry maize, use the other half to cater for school fees.
