I am married with one kid who is in baby class. I attended kenyatta university for two years and then differed because of financial constraints. I was taking bachelor of education, arts, which i hope to complete in the future. I am a devout christian, in fact i am a sunday school teacher at my church. I also do charity works especially with childrens home.
I make hand woven mats using canvas and thick threads. It takes me two days to complete a door mat. The materials of a door mat cost ksh 1500 and i sell it for ksh 2000-3000. I make atleast ksh 500 for every mat i make and it increases with the size. I lack the capital to buy materials for bigger mats. Customers also usually shy away from giving me deposit since i do not have a shop and operate from my house . Most of them also prefer ready made mats rather than waiting. I also hope to own a shop where customers will be able to come and visit.
I also help a friend in her salon and get a daily allowance of ksh 300. If granted the loan i will pay back using my daily allowance savings and the sales i will be making.
I would first want to thank zidisha for the first loan which greatly helped me. I have been making fluffy mats / carpet and selling them just from my house. I would like to rent a shop that i will use to display and sell the carpets and hopefully this will expand my business. I will rent a small shop that will cost me around $100 and use the rest to buy more materials. Thank you.
