My names are Jane Wanjiru. I was born in 1991, being a second born in a family of six. I joined class one in the year 1998, and completed primary education in the year 2005. I was admitted to and attended St. Gabriel Mission School from 2006 to 2009, where I completed my secondary education. In 2010, I did a computer course for 3 months, and in the same year I got a job in a school called Hills View Academy as a secretary. At that time, I was earning a salary o f 5,000 Kenya shillings. Those earnings were enough to sustain me and assist my mother to educate my younger brothers and sisters.
My father died in the year 2005. During this period, my mother struggled a lot to educate me and the other children. It was a grace of God that I completed my education, thanks to my mother. While working, I took a secretary course from 2012 to mid-2014. When I graduated, my salary was increased to 14,000 Kenya shillings, which I am working for to date.
I have recently opened an M-Pesa shop that is doing well.
I own an M-Pesa shop in Gilgil town, but I am working under somebody's umbrella. It's doing well, though I have some challenges. I earn approximately 20,000 ksh. I have employed a girl that I pay 4,000 ksh, 2,500 goes to house rent, and 2,000 ksh goes to my electricity bill, so total expenses add up to 8,500 ksh. It is the expenditure of the shop. I use ten thousand to cater for our house needs and I save 1,500ksh. Of the salary I get, half of it goes to the school fees of my younger brother and sister, and the other half I save to to buy a plot and build a house for me and my family. Thanks in advance.
I work under somebody else's umbrella and I want to register my own M-Pesa shop. It requires a capital of about 30,000 ksh to buy furniture, a chair and a table worth 8,000 shillings, and a computer worth 12,000 shillings. 2,500 will register the shop with my name and the rest (7,500) will boost my working capital. When I am funded, I will add the balance to achieve my goals. Thanks in advance.
