I am the first born in a family of three. Living in Nairobi then we had difficult time growing up as we lost our parents when I was only 13. My siblings and I were taken in by close relatives who took us to school. It was not all smooth there but we had to persevere in order to get our basic needs. I managed to go up to the university level but have never gotten a job. This motivated me to look for a business thus my husband borrowed a loan from his self help group to help me start a food store. I have one four year old daughter who is yet to discover what she would like to be in future. I love playing hockey and making new friends.
I have a small shop in Nakuru where by it entails a food store mainly cereals although I sell other stuffs like toiletries, soft drinks, and stationaries. These goods are important because they are daily basic needs that must be used. The profits I obtain from the shop are used to pay rent, school fees and family investments.Being in a slum where most people live in abject poverty, I have really struggled to keep the business to thrive because most people come to lend me goods promising to pay later but they don't. Trying to differentiate loyal customers who can lend and pay back has proved to be a challenge. This has lead to my stock deteriorating.
I would like to buy a fridge for my shop. Customers have been asking for cold water, soda, milk and even ice cream which I don't have at the moment. So to keep all my customers and make them happy I would like to buy a fridge so as to be able to give them cold drinks. This will benefit my family too during hot seasons as we shall have cold drinks to take and store our food to avoid going bad. The ice that I will be making will increase my profits by close to kshs. 3,000. Thanks in advance
