About Me

My Name is Nicholas Macharia, a young  and business minded guy who believes in self ability to create wealth. I’m a graduated a year ago with a Bachelor of science in computer Engineering from one of the universities in my country. I’m a second born in a family of seven children. During my childhood I went  through a lot of struggles such going to school without shoes,  sleeping hungry, wearing turn cloths and staying for months at home due to lack of school fees among others. This motivated to work harder in school and at home.  I passed my primary levels very well and I was admitted to a good provincial high school. While at high school I became interested with computers and I spent most of the time in the lab assisting the lab technician in repairs and also learning the basic operation of the computer hardware. This didn’t affect my academics because I passed my exams with an A-(78/100) points.

After high school graduation, my passion for computers did not end because I did a certificate in computer packages from Hermatech computers in Njabini Township. During the time I learned advanced skills in computer repair, maintenance and troubleshooting.

When I joined campus my passion for being financial independent increased. I used my pocket money to buy books such as Richest man in Babylon by George Samuel Clason, Rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki among others this increased my confidence in taking risks, I decide it was time to use my skills to generate money.

I received a higher education loan at second year and used it to buy my own laptop at $400 and a set of screw drivers at $20 . I started advertising my skills of computer maintenance and repairs to my classmates and that lead to my recognition around the school of computer technology. I used to receive around $50 to $100 per day. That was good money because I was able to save at least $10 per day support my parents with $10 and also pay my basic needs and school fees. My hobbies includes travelling, reading and computer gaming.

My Business

My country Kenya has an unemployment rate of 35%. So after completing my studies last year, I decide to use my skills and savings to create a job, not only for me but also to others. I noted that starting my own business will support me, my siblings, my parents and also support other the workers whom I would employ.

From my campus business I had made good savings to start up a business in the Capital, Nairobi. I opened computer repair and maintenance business in Nairobi, Tom Mboya street where I do laptop and desktop troubleshooting, repairs, software installation, hardware replacement among others.

My business has been success for the last one and half years especially after buying the re-work station from the previous Zidisha Loan. It has helped me and my two assistants grow financially.

Using my last Zidisha loan(to buy RAM, Processors, and computers screens), I was able to increase my stock and me, my assistants and also those who depend of me including my mother, brothers and sisters have been happy. I have been able to increase my earnings to an average of KES 15,000 in two days. I save Kes 4000, pay my two assistants 3,000 KES, send my parents 1500 KES, and reinvest back 6500 KES into business for buying stock

I have also increased my stock order to an average of $350 weekly. Which has been has been good for me despite increase in tax by our government.

Now due to change in technology, people have shifted to smartphones, which means I get many clients who want mobile phone screen replacement than laptops. Most of whom i refer to my competitors since i don't have enough mobile phone screen stock.

Loan Proposal

I will Purchase Re-work station. I use a Re-work station to fix faulty joints, faulty components especially in the computer motherboard and also re-engineering parts and making the required changes. I need another Re-work station which costs around $200. Re-work station will help me create two employment positions, double my revenue since I will be able to comfortably take big orders and compete comfortably with my competitors. This will make my business more profitable, help me increase my workers salary, my contribution to my family, grow me economically assure my business a better future.
Thank you.
