My name is wilson. I am married with one kid. My family and i live in Nakuru town at Hehima estate. My wife and i run a salon/barber shop in the nakuru town central business district. We both commute to and from town to estate daily. From monday to saturday, on sundays we attend church, we are also planning to open a small charity organisation in order to help local orphans and less fortunate around my hood.
The business is located in a building called care guest house opposite k-rep bank ground floor rm 21B.
I completed form four level education in the year 2009. I couldn't continue with formal education partly due to lack of finances and partly because i believed my future was in business. I then did a series of casual jobs in town for six months and raised some money that i used to enroll for a six months hair dressing /beautician course at vera beauty college in nakuru town. upon completion i worked in various salons as an employee earning commission.
In the year 2012 November i started my own salon business where i was later joined by a lady Now my wife with whom we still partner to date.
In addition to normal salon/barber duties we also sell beauty products to our customers.
my business includes a salon and a barbar shop. i also sellbeauty products like shampoos ,hair dyes , chemicals and other. i have two employees who i pay a commission for work done on dailly basis. the following are my monthly expenditures in Kshs: Rent 15,000 , Water and electricity 5,000 and transport 3,000. I earn about KES 2000 daily ( 60,000 in a month) .This translates to a net profit of 35,000 to 45,000.
when i get the loan ,i want yo add more beauty products and ornaments which are on high demand. i expect to raise my income by about 400 shillings daily. with this , i will pay the loan as well as grow my business.
When i get the funding from ZIDISHA , i will purchase the following items for my beauty salon.
3 dz neck laces 2@ KES 2,600, 3 dz hair clips @ KES 1,200 3 dz packets of hair dye of different shades @ KES 2,400 , Varried types of hair chemicals and conditioners KES 4,000. I will use the remainder and part of my own savings to re- design the display shelves to accommodate the new items.
These items are fast moving and are readily available in wholesale prices in the local shops and hence will not add any cost in transport.
On selling this items i expect to realise a 20 % profit within a duration of at most one week. This will greatly improve my monthly earnings from the current KES 60000 to about 70,000.
With the improved earnings i will continue restocking and and introducing new commodities.
