My name is Irene Akinyi Odidi. i was born and raised up in Mombasa Kenya. I was born in 1980 and joined Kwashee primary school for my primary education. I managed to finish the primary level and later joined star of the sea high school. After a successful completion i joined a teachers training college and trained as a tutor. Apart from the business that i run i also do teaching in a neighbouring school called vissions academy. Right now i still reside in Mombasa in an area called Makande. Am happily married to Karred Ogolla. I love reading, singing and travelling during my leissure time. Due to my little salary and also for the love i have for business i decided to run a bookshop to boosy my income.
I run a bookshop called Odidi bookstores. I decided to this type of business because in my area there are so many students but no bookstores around anit used to stress people because the had to walk or travel for long distances to acquire them. The business is working out well because despite the small challenges i manage to get some returns. In a typical month i make sales of atleast 100000 ksh. i have a lady who works there when am not around and i pay her 8000 ksh, my monthly rent is 5000 ksh, i also pay utility bills of 3000 monthly and purchases of 50000 fees for my siblings 12000. profit of 12000. there is a large demand for more stationeries but since the funds are not enough i have not managed to stock up.
Given the chance i will spend the entire amount to buy exercise books for my bookshop because of the rise in demand since form one students are joining their schools in february so they badly need these books. This will boost my sells and i will comfortably pay the, loan with much ease. And also improve my business.
