About Me

I am a graduate (Bachelor of Science, Pure Math Major) from the University of Nairobi, 2013, and currently pursuing my second degree in Mass Communication at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology alongside a Master’s Degree in Pure Math: How Propositional Logic Can be used in Solving Satisfiability Problems at the University of Nairobi.

I have over five years experience in academic, content, and creative writing with www.essaywriters.net, www.iwriter.com, and www.writerbay.com.

So far, I have penned down five titles (Published by CreateSpace Independent Publishers, Seattle, Washington DC, USA) namely:

[1] There is no Country Called Kenya (African Drama)

[2] The UglyBeautiful Tale of a Stupid, Stupid Heart (Novel)

[3] A Must-Have Guide for Every Aspiring Writer (Self-Help)

[4] Crawling to my Death and Other Poems: A Poetry Anthology (Poetry Anthology)

[5] Please! Remember to Forget me and Other Short Stories

My Flash Fiction The Tale of Sophia and Lala was Shortlisted for the Annual Etilasat Flash Fiction Competition, 2016.

Currently, I am working on a Swahili Riwaya titled Yajapo Yapokee, and an English Novella titled Married to my Shadow.

Additionally, I am an occasional Op-Ed contributor for major local dailies here in Kenya namely:

My Business

Through my website www.cheruolevi.com, I offer consultancy services ranging from POD (Print on Demand) Publishing, Manuscript Editing, Grant Proposals Writing, Ghostwriting, Book Reviews, Website Designing, and oftentimes Academic and Content Writing.

However, POD (Print on Demand) is the key service I offer to my ever-growing pool of clienteles.

What is Print on Demand?

Rather than estimating how many copies of a particular item should be printed in a print run, a journal issue/book/proceeding/etc. is only printed upon request. This method eliminates unappealing problems including the burden of paying for unsold items that wind up being stacked in an overcrowded storeroom or printing too few items, running out, and being forced to tell a customer that the content is not available for purchase.
Print on Demand takes the guesswork out of printing. No need to gamble on how many issues will sell. You simply prepare a single file (usually PDF), submit it to the Print on Demand publisher, and it is stored until an issue is ordered by a customer. It is only at this point that ink touches paper.
What kind of time and effort is involved?
If you are already publishing electronically, then you most likely already have the file in an appropriate format. Many Print on Demand publishers prefer PDF submission. However, there are publishers that will accept Word documents and convert them to PDF before printing. Some may also require you to set up or have a PayPal or similar-type payment account.

Is it necessary?

It all depends. Who is the audience? How will they react if you move fully online? Some publications have moved from print to fully online rather successfully. Others haven’t fared as well. Print on Demand might be a good way to transition from a culture of print to a culture that prefers electronic access. It may also be a good option for those who are unsure of their audience or still working with a mix of preferences.

How much does it cost?

Cost varies widely and depends on many factors including, but not limited to: publisher, file size, page count, amount of color/black-and-white, type of binding, hard/soft cover, or listing location. Most systems allow you to set-up all your requirements online and receive an immediate quote. Please contact the vendor with your specifications and for further information.

Note: I intent to rent an Office, preferably within Nairobi, to accommodate a printing firm, and, or a full-fledged POD Consultancy Firm. So far I am marketing the idea widely and wildly and truth is there are so many potential authors out there who would have loved to be published at the soonest opportune possible.

Loan Proposal

I intent to further market my POD (Print on Demand) services via major platforms other than my website www.cheruolevi.com.

With time, I intent to establish either a POD Publishing Firm, or a Fully-fledged Consultancy Firm within Nairobi.
