I grew up in Nyeri county in kathiani division and had a normal life. I am still in Kathiani though I moved from one area, othaya, to Kathiani. My dreams are to employ myself by expanding my business and become one of the best businessmen in the world.
When I was young, I used to make and sell ice cream when I went to play soccer at the local field. I have started several small businesses while I have been in school, and although sometimes I have the challenge of finding capital, my businesses have all been successful. I hope to one day open a sports academy to help youths nurture their talents while they are still young.
Apart from selling mandazi (a type of doughnut) to the community, i have another business which mainly entails making of metallic products and selling them at a profit. I make products like Wheel barrows, spades, rakes, jikos, hummers, chicken feeders, hinges, metallic sieves, jembes, trowels among many other products.
I started this business after a friend introduced me to it as a casual laborer. After gaining experience i saw it to be a suitable viable business for me to indulge in.
My customers come from both far and near, mainly Nyeri county residents and retailers who buy in large quantities to go and supply in other areas of the country. I have greater goals of opening more outlets and employing many more other youth at least to enable them earn an income.
In a month i make profits of upto $ 250 which i use to expand my businesses more and cater for my family needs.
I am going to spend the kshs. 20,000 to open another outlet within Nyeri county market. Kshs. 8000 i will use to pay for a room/space and the remaining kshs. 12000 i will spend in making and procuring new stocks.
