About Me

I am Yvonne Wangira. I was born and raised in kakamega county in western kenya. I went to kakamega priamary I passed well and proceeded to Mukumu girls where i sat for my secondary education. I completed my secondary school passed well but had no money to join college since my parents could not afford. I have three siblings one brother and two sisters and I am the first born.
After completing secondary education my late father suffered from stroke and most of the family resours was used to get him unfortunately he passed on.since he was the sole bread winner the future looked bleak. my siblings had to drop from school since there was no money to keep them in school. I decided to do anything possible to help my family, I borrowed $70 from a friend and used the money to train in cloth making and design at my mum friends tailoring shop in kakamega town. After completing my training due to my hard work and excellent work the school retained me to train others. with $50 salary ,atleast I could help my family put food on the table. After six months with $150 saving and $200 loan from a friend I decided to open my own shop. the shop is doing well and I have been able to send one of my sibling sister back to school.
I drawing and designing just to try and be more innovative and come up with unique designs.

My Business

I run a tailoring shop in kakamega town, the business deals with repairs of cloths, designing and making both casual wear and office wear for both ladies and gentlemen. My greatest secret to getting clients and retaining them is honest, quality work and timely delivery. I work up to late night just to ensure I meet my clients needs and make them happy.
I choose these business because I liked designing and coming up with new things .It was also a profitable business idea.
I spend about $170 a month for rent, and electricity ,machine maintenance and labour.my monthly revenue is $380.I make an average of $210 in profit per month.
I use the profits to support my family through purchase of food and paying fees for my sibling.
