About Me

My name Marcela, single mother of 2 young children - a boy and a girl aged 16 and 13 years respectively. I am a hardworking person striving to support her family with basic needs such as food, shelter and education.


I was born in a place called Taita Taveta, not very far from Kenya's coast line. The main activity here is farming but most parents prefer to send their children to big towns such as Mombasa once they are through with their education. They believe that, by doing so, they stand a better chance of succeeding in life since there are more opportunities there.

I found myself in Mombasa just after my formal education where I went to live with my relative. It is where I have been employed in many institutions on casual basis where I do clerical work and other minor duties such as running errands. I have been out of salaried work for the last two years hence my decision to start a business.

My boy would like to become a lawyer while the sister aspires to become a teacher.

My Business

I sell second hand clothes in my neighborhood. I normally chose my clothes from the market and then sell them from door to door. It is not an easy job but I like it since it has provided my family with their basic needs for many years.

I recently introduced bed sheets to my stock after I got the Zidisha loan. I wasn't quite sure whether my clients would respond positively tho this but I am glad that the gamble has paid off. I hope to keep adding more new items to satisfy the needs of my clients.

I hope to keep expanding the business and move it to a permanent store.

Loan Proposal

It is peak time for clothes sales. I want to add more clothes to my stockpile so that I address this temporary demand. I will spend USD 100 to buy an assortment of clothes ranging from children wear to adult clothes.

I am expecting to make good sales between now and end of year and this will improve my daily income in a big way.
