About Me

my name is stephen Okemo, I come from Kisumu kenya. I Was raised by a single mother ,My dad passed on when I was 6 years old in 1998 Nairobi Bomb-last that killed 220 people and left thousand with injuries. We are only two children in our family and I am the last born. My mother suffered from acute stroke when I was in my final year in secondary school and my brother had just completed university and was jobless. The family had no money and we held fundraising to sort out mums hospital bills she finally succumbed to illness last year April.
My brother who had got a job with a local NGO advanced me a loan of $200 . I used the money to buy two bales of second hand cloths , the business however did not last as everything was raised down by the fire that gutted down my stores. I gave up in the business and wen back home. These is when the idea of selling vegetables come into my mind, I grow vegetables and buy from farmers and resale in kibuye market. The business does well ,but I am planning to lease more land to plant vegetables so as to maximize my profits.
Kisumu is the third biggest town in Kenya and is densely populated. it is a transit town and borders lake Victoria .The main occupants are the luo community.
My wife is expectant at the moment and we are expecting a baby boy in mid October
I dance and singing with my local band during my free time.. I also read novels and love traveling

My Business

I am trader and farmer of assorted vegetables,ie cucumber carrots, tomatoes, kale's, and spinach. I grow kales, spinach and tomatoes in my farm and buy the rest from farmers to resale to my esteemed customers who include hotels, schools and individuals.
the demand for these goods is high because I live in town and most people her engage in other businesses apart from farming and hence total depend on traders and farmers to supply them with vegetables,
I choose these business because it is easy to manage and demand is high throughout the year.
I spend $150 as production cost in my farm and earn $300 from the farm. On the other hand I spend $500 on buying commodities for resale and get $700 per month.my combined profits per month average is $200-350 per month.
I use my income to pay fees for my orphaned cousin, pay fees for one former street boy and take care of my young family.

Loan Proposal

hello lenders ,I am requesting for $200 loan to help me buy manure for transplanting my tomatoes that require transplantation starting next week. The manure would foster fast growth rate and health fruits hence quality produce that can fetch premium prices in the market.Thank you in advance.
