My name is Pamela Ochieng. I come from Kisumu county in Kenya. Iam the first born in a family of 7, all alive with our last born still attending school.I work on temporary contracts as a counselor and majorly run a handworks shop in Ahero 17 km from Kisumu. Am a single of mother of three who are all attending school, single by circumstance not choice. Am a born again Christian and I serve in church as a construction treasurer and service lead, besides I also serve in praise and worship team, doing what I love most, I.e singing, playing guitar and piano.
I make money out of handworks which involves but not limited to shaggy mats, soft carpets. duvets, pillows, beadworks and traditional baskets. I also offer consultancy as a counselor especially in HIV/AIDS and study coordination.
The locally made yarn costs 4dollars, together with what i have, i shall top up and get a pack of of rolls that can make a doormat(45cm by 75 cm). this isell at 28 dollars. al save 10dollars, spend another 8 dollrs on yarn and make 2 mats each costing 28 dollars.Out of the 10 dollars remaining i will spend 5 on tapesry, 1 dollar on loan repayment and the remainder on family upbringing. This happens after every 4 working days.
