About Me

My names are Stephen Muriu. I come from a country called Kenya in East Africa. My town is called Nakuru which is the fourth largest in Kenya and is about 150km from our capital city of Nairobi.

I was born and raised in Nakuru where I went to school from the beginning - Nursery to when I finished my secondary school and I love this beautiful since I was a child. We went to nearby schools and even upto now we still meet with friends from the times I was a young boy.

Back them life was unlike today where technological advances were a lot and were relied on simplistic lifestyles and everybody loved it!

I started my own business after finishing my college education as an Electrical Technician. My passion was always to be self employed and I love farming since I was young. Employment is a challenge to many in our country and I ventured to farming as well as doing Electrical installation jobs which come along. I therefore decided doing a side business in poultry is a good idea.

The climate of my home town of Nakuru is moderate and we experience very good weather all year long. With lots of sunshine which sometimes can be too much especially the months of December - February and raining from April to around July; with July being the coldest.

I am married and I have a beautiful daughter. She is two years now.

I love playing football when am free and travelling with my young family when time and resources allow.

My Business

I have been doing freelance Electrical installation work for houses and I get paid depending on the size and type of work involved. Currently I have indigenous chicken which I keep and for resale.

This is my second Zidisha loan and I am very grateful because the first loan assisted me in getting to the poultry world. I now have several chickens which are laying eggs and some of them have young chicks.

I am kindly applying for the second loan to assist me to start a broiler poultry project because I noticed that free range chicken are good for eggs but not so much for meat. The market for chicken meat is rapidly increasing and I thought that it would be a good idea to venture into broiler farming. There are several hotels coming around in my home town where seminars are held and this creates the demand.

I therefore apply for application for broiler farming and I trust that the lenders will enable my dream come true.

As I have done before, I will continue to honour repaying my loans on time and without failure.

Thanks in advance.

Stephen.
