My name is Alex murithi. I am a young Kenyan graduate from Chuka University class of 2015 November. I come from a humble family of 3 siblings .Thanks for taking your time to read through my Zidisha profile, apart from studies I have always had a passion for business.
I have always been passionate in changing and expanding the mindset of young people towards entrepreneurship. The types of business I do include freelance writing and forex trading.
I have been in these businesses since I joined college and they have helped me to cater for my expenses as well as pay school fees for my younger sibling.
Having gained some good wealth of experience, I do train, mentor, employ young people interested to join these type of business and any other online jobs I have knowledge about. The reason I have ventured in business is due to the high rate of unemployment in Kenya. I therefore decided to take lead in investing time in learning skills in these online jobs that can make me self-independent . Some of my hobbies include reading, networking, swimming, travelling and writing articles. I am sure we can tackle the unemployment rate in our country by teaching young people to work online and I wish to train as many as possible youths to earn some income from these exciting online ventures.
My two major sources of income come from my Forex trading business and freelance writing. I also run some transport/logistics business aside. I trade stocks and indices as well as offer my writing skills to companies and individuals in need of content. Apart from doing these I also train, mentor and employ young people ready to learn the above named skills. I am currently running these Trainings and mentorship programs under my platform known as Brains With Concepts. My main aim is to encourage youths to solve unemployment through entrepreneurship through learning skills such as content curation and trading currencies and stocks.
I have been doing the training part time, but now I want to do regular training and recruit more youths into entrepreneurship. These services are on high demand because of the high unemployment rate among graduates in Kenya. Costs incurred during my training sessions include hiring a standard conference room, hiring presentation gadgets and payment of some trainers I invite during my meetings. These may total up to 700$ for a session that may take 1 week. I charge 100$-200$ for these workshops inclusive of a mentorship package we offer to the trainees where we guide them untill they are able to make consistent income using the skills learnt. I use the profits in paying office bills, enrolling for other courses to sharpen my skills and re investing in other offline ventures.
When I get this loan 100$ will be used for expansion/upgrading of the exiting poultry house. This is essential to ensure the 2000 chicks get enough inflow of clean air and ample feeding space. The existing structure is able to hold a maximum of 300 chicks only. With each chick costs 200ksh which is 2$ US, I will therefore use 400$ to buy more chicks to hit the total 2000 target. Some of the few coins saved will be used for transporting the chicks. 100$ will be used to buy drinkers and feeding troughs. These are very essential considering the number of chick intended to raise. A modern drinker system will also be installed within this budget to reduce contamination. 200$ will be used to buy feeds and medicine. Feeds are quite costly and in the long run I look forward to starting my processing plant to save feed expenses. Vaccines are very essential and will be offered on regular basis to keep off infections from the flock. I will top up the remaining 100$ with my savings to buy a 2000 egg capacity Incubator that will be used to hatch eggs in the coming few months when the flock starts laying. I intend to hatch and sell the chicks to my local community members at a fair price.
This is the most interesting part of business, and shows how my business is quite profitable. Considering the hens ray with a success rate of 50%, I will be getting 1000 eggs in a day. In a month I will have 4000 eggs. Half of these will be incubated and sold as young chicks, each selling at 150ksh which is quite fair unlike other dealers who sell at 200-300. With 2000 eggs, being sold at 200ksh each I will make 400,000ksh. The rest of the 2000 will be sold as eggs, each selling at 20ksh bringing 40,000ksh in a month. It means I have a total income of 440,000ks in a month. 50% will cater for expences such as food, electricity, medicine and regular checkups from experts, transport and marketing. I will therefore be making a profit of 200,000ksh in a month. I intend to use online marketing using a website, SMS, whatsap and facebook Ads an art which has not been used by local farmers. I will also shoot videos and use pictures for marketing purposed while educating any potential farmers to join the lucrative poultry business. Please help me make my poultry dream business a reality. Thanks in advance
