I am Beatrice Anyango, I was born in 1983 in the rural village of Kanyamwa in Ndhiwa Sub-County of Homa Bay County. I was the last born in a family of five (three girls and one boy). I went through my education in the Government funded public schools. Having successfully completed my High School, I did not go to college but instead go married. Once married and my husband was a farmer, I decided to start a small groceries shop/kiosk to enable me sell the fresh on farm produce from my husband farm so that we can raise money to meet the family obligations..
I have three children and the first born will sit for her final primary school exams in November 2015.The last born is in Class two. My children have got big dreams and I always tell them that sky is the limit.
In my free time, I do participate in Church activities like singing and visiting the sick in hospital. Mbita community where I grow, the cultural norms tend to look down upon women but with the new sources of business financing like ZIDISHA Micro-finance, women are starting to have a voice and aspiration to venture into small income businesses, I find this interesting and I do encourage women to reach out and mobilize themselves for active participation in local development.
I have been in the business for more than six years now. I mainly trade on fresh on farm products like; cabbages, kales (sukumawiki), onions, tomatoes, oranges and mangoes among others. In my fresh on farm food shop, I do sell green vegetables, avocados and tomatoes. The business is doing very well and I have developed a very strong clients base for my business. It's strategically located and I do attract many clients due to fair pricing policy that I practice.
I am looking forward to expanding the business and enlarging my base so that I can raise enough money to support my family financial needs.
I need a loan of KES 19,052 to enable me buy the following food items;
- 20Kgs of onions@ KES 3,000
-20Kgs of Kales@KES 5,000
-20Kgs of Cabages@KES 5,000
-10Kgs of tomatoes@KES 6,000
The food items purchase with the loan will give me a weekly profit of US$40 x 4 = 160US$ per month. This is a profit increase of 40%. The loan from ZIDISHA will enable me to expand the business and repay the loan on time while meeting my family financial needs.
