My name is Sampson Coffie, a 30 year old graduate of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. I have Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. Growing up, I went through a lot of hardship. I was born in a village where farming is the major occupation. My parents, who wanted to give me a better future, encouraged me to take my studies seriously amidst all the hardship. I started my basic education in a village called Asuopokua within Suaman-Dadieso District in Western Region of Ghana. Not wanting to disappoint my parents, I studied hard and managed through the hard times and now I am the star of hope for my family. After completing my tertiary education it was difficult getting a job so decided to set up something on my own. I started providing simple laboratory services to people in my community within Sunyani Municipality. After a few months, I decided to set up a medical laboratory where basic laboratory tests and services such as hepatitis B screening, blood sugar tests, malaria test, sickle cell tests are provided. My goal is to add more tests, extend my services to other areas and help members of community with various services to meet their health needs. This will also help me increase my income to be able to support my family and the community. I look forward to making a great impact on humanity.
My start-up business offers various laboratory tests and services including blood sugar monitoring, hepatitis B&C screening, blood group, sickle cell tests, malaria test amongst others . I chose this kind of business because I saw that people in my community lack these services except they go to few hospitals and health centers around. When one wants to do a personal laboratory check up, one has to go to the hospitals, which comes with a lot of inconveniences. With my services, many individuals are able to access medical laboratory services with ease and convenience. My clients are companies, schools, churches, families, and individuals who wish to do various laboratory tests to assess their health statuses. I also offer door-to-door laboratory services which has attracted a lot of people. My main need is to get financial support to be able to acquire more laboratory test kits and diagnostic devices such are urine test strips, haemoglobin meter, glucometer, pregnancy test kits, amongst others. This will enable me to generate more income and profit to support my family and help others in the community. I currently work with one person and I hope to expand the business to employ more people. I hope to extend my services to other communities within the next 2 to 3 years.
I am applying for this loan to continue my weekend outreach programme. The weekend health screening programme has helped many people in my community and I wish to get more funds to support this programme. With the introduction of this business initiative, there has been great interest from the public and I would need more test kits and other logistics to effectively continue with the programme. I would be grateful if the loan is granted.
