My name is Pauline from the University of Eldoret. I grew up in Kericho, a land of kalenjins. I went to Green schools for my primary and secondary education. The school was for the sponsored students of the workers of the Finlay tea company. I was lucky to get free education for my primary and education. Being the only child of my mother who raised me as a single mother i always wanted to make her proud of me and we both prayed that i would be an engineer. The unique thing about Kericho is the production of tea. My hobby is reading and researching which most of my friends think is weird because it is not fun. I was given a student's loan at the university which i used to buy jewellery and started selling to my colleagues.
I provide jewellery such as earrings, bangles, necklaces, rings, watches and ankle pieces. I sell these goods to my classmates and schoolmates at the university. Jewellery is useful in our lives because they contribute to the beauty of our bodies. They also complement our looks just with the right touch of colour and material. I chose this business because i really love wearing jewellery and then also the market that i was targeting are the youthful people who are the university students so this was just the right business for me. I sell the jewellery at a profit of between 1 us dollar and 2 us dollars. I use the profit to buy my basic needs and i save money also for my business. I send some money to my mother for her upkeep.
I am requesting a loan because i want to expand my business to start getting more stock to sell and make more profits. I need to buy a stock of 26 us dollars that is 10 pieces of neck pieces that have just come into the market and are really fashionable. I intend to sell each piece at 3.50 us dollars. This is an improvement and an increase in the profits which will enable me to pay the loan and to improve myself.
