About Me

My name is Mark Okombo and I was born in 1986 at the Island of Mfangano in Homa County, Kenya. I currently live with my wife in Kasgunga Ward of Mbita Sub County having migrated from the island to seek business opportunity in Mbita for income.

I come from a family of eight, which includes my deceased two parents (mother and father), my little brother, and my four little sisters. I had the opportunity to go to school but I wasn't able to get very far. I dropped out in the ninth grade since I didn't have the means to continue my studies after the death of my parents, so I wasn't able to get my high school diploma. After this time, I decided to start selling fruit.

My Business

A few years after leaving school for lack of funds, I started a business selling bananas, oranges, and peanuts. I conduct business in front of the market yard in Mbita Town. I start selling in the evening around 4:00 P.M. and finish at about 9:00 or 9:30 P.M. I run this business to bring in revenue to meet my basic needs and often those of my family in food, health care, and clothing. When I heard my community leader (Kennedy Onyango) sister talk about Zidisha Microfinance, I immediately saw an opportunity to increase my business.

Loan Proposal

Hello dear lenders, I am seeking a loan of KES 4,134 to enable me buy fruits and re-stock my kiosk. I will be able to sale and attract more clients to my fruits stall and the increased profits will be used to repay the loan and support my children education.

The funds will be used to restock various types of fruit that I sell, in order to increase sales and thus profits that will help me pay for family expenses. Thank you.

I would like to reduce my repayment amount to Ksh 600 per week. This is because i can't manage to raise the expected repayment amount due to inadequate customers hence the products go bud.

I am suffering from an ailment that am not quite sure when will end, thus i would wish to bring this plea to your attention.
