I live in Mbita town, I have lived here for the five years. I am Kenyan by birth, born and brought up in Nyakach Sub County, Kisumu County. That is where the rest of my family members live. i came to Mbita for casual work and later settled here. Mbita is a very nice place in terms of climate and business wise this is because the town is in the shores of Lake Victoria. The location makes a business and tourist destination and it attracts a lot of people because of the lake.
I was the last born among three siblings. I finished my high school education in 2011 and did not continue to College since my parents could not afford College Education Fee. Without money to continue my education, I started small business to supplement my parents low income. I then got interested in sale cereals as it is a product with high demand.
In Mbita, the local community are welcoming though people with Albinism are not all that welcomed but since the people here are loving, I have found it easier for me to work with them. In my free time I sing in the Church and do visit the sick at home to counsel and pray with them.
I operate a small business of selling cereals, fresh fruits in Mbita town. I sell them at retail prices. I have been in this business for the last one year, the reason as to why I got interested in this business is because the products are easy to get and there is ready market. The rampant growth of the population in this town makes me fill that I should add my stock so as to continue attracting more customers. In a good month, I do make a profit of Ksh 9,000 (100 dollars). I use this money on a monthly basis to pay house rent @ KES 2,000, Food at KES 5,000, my child's education @ KES 1000 and Savings at KES 500.
I am seeking a loan of KES 26,000 to enable me buy more cereals for sale. This will make my business grow and enable me to shift my business from retail to both retail and wholesale selling. I will the 1st ZIDISHA loan to buy sourghum, maize, water melons, mangoes,bananas, an some other types of fruits
I am requesting for a loan of KES 23,024 to enable me re-stock my cereals sales business. I will use the new loan of KES 23,024 as follows;
-Purchase 4 bags of maize at KES 2,800 x 4 = 11,200
-Purchase 2 bags of dried beans at KES 4,200 x 2 = 8,400
-Purchase 10Kgs of greengrams at KES 3,000
The new cereals stock will improve my profit by 35%. I will save 10% of the increased income to plough back in my business and 20% I will use to repay back the loan.
