My name is Gladys Oppong Bonsu and i am a Ghanaian. i completed senior high school some five years ago. Right from my childhood days till now, i have been the only source of inspiration to my family's Greatness. My quest to further my education to the next level was shuttered by the death of my father right after i completed school. Dreams died and my hopes were lost but with the human spirit that never gives up i took to selling cooked food on tables in my locality and hardwork has paid off till date.
My struggle and determination to not remain idle was what lifted me in my moment of difficulty.
My community is a very quiet one witth a lot of people with lots of trees and known in Ghana for it Bread baking. We have a very unique culture with a very nice festival celebrated ones every year. My aim current is expand my food vendor business, and with hardwork in the future to be able to own on mini restaurant in my community.
I Sell cooked food on a Table in my community. simply put i am a food vendor. i cook food like rice, Banku which is a yam, plaintain and kenkey. However, they are on small scale.
A one full bag of say dry maize for $ 50, After turning it into kenkey and Banku, i make a profit of not less than 50% off the invested amount. The same applies to the cooked rice as well. so in general, i made a profit of not less than 40% on invested capital.
As a young lady with much dreams and Passion, i save 60% of my profit, reinvest 20% and i live on just 10%.
One more thing about my small business is that since it is about cooked food, always there is a market for it, and that sales is done on daily bases which will allow me to meet the loans obligations weekly if When my project is fully supported.
When and if my loan project is fully funded, i will invest all the amount into my business. i will buy the following stock to support my trade;
Four big bags of dry Maize at some$160.00
Six bags of Rice at some $150.00
Cooking Oil at some $50.00
Cooking spices at some $20.00
50 eating bowls for my customers at some $50.00
50 Table spoons at some $20.00
Drinking cups at some $10.00
A larger Table for my Trade at some $60.00
The entire expenditure is some $520.00. I will have a fulfiled life and dreams, Then to the people of my community it means availabity of food any time the need it at affordable price that they can afford.Thus prices that both the young and the old can all buy and have something to eat.
With this new capital inflow, i expect to have a profit increase of more than 30% on the invested $520.00 and since it is a daily trade it will help me to honor the loan obligation by paying on time and per schedule
