Am a mother of two kids (girls),I have lived in Rusinga Island for the past 22 years and am not intending to move any time soon my youngest daughter has joined pre-school this year. My husband is a peasant farmer and he grows food that we eat as a family.
Iam a Certificate holder in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) and aim to enroll for a Diploma Course in August 2015. I own a private Nursery and Pre-Primary School at Rusinga Island. During my free time I sing in the Church Choir. I started my business after noticing the importance of education in our village since I understand that the root of education is what determines the quality of education and in my village most parents did not understand the importance of early childhood education so I started the Nursery school with an aim to better the standard of education in our village.
My business involve managing a school where I and my staff we teach children who are starting school these are aged 3 years and above for baby class, 4 years is the age for joining Nursery and 5 years is Pre-Unit. The children graduate to class one (Primary Section of School). The school has enrolled pupil's upto class 1-3. In my School I have three teachers and two cleaners and one Secretary so in total I have 6 Staff members, business is good since the community appreciates our work and they are very co-operative.
I want to buy stationery for my school this include books, chalks, charts and pens that will sustain me for the whole month this will cost Ksh 2,000 and so with the Zidisha loan of Ksh 1,534, I plan to add to my savings of Ksh 467 to buy the stationery that will help my school see more profits throughout the month since I will not need to be buying the stationery every time and that will allow my staff members to enjoy their work and so also to boost their morale.
