I was born and brought up in the village where i pursued primary school education. My parents gave me good orientation in business by engaging me in the small family retail business over weekend and during holidays. This began when i was in class 4 and since then i started developing an enterprising spirit. I initiated my first informal business venture at the age of 13 years in class 7. I sold sweets to fellow pupils in class then and as the demand for my products increased, i found it wise to engage a desk-mate who could work for four days and on the fifth day of the week she could take all the profits as her wages.
My business has three operational dimensions. I offer basic human needs ranging from food (in particular eggs and cereals), clothing as well as beauty services to cosmetic products and jeweleries. My target market predominantly consists of urban families and the youthful individuals. However, to keep the business going and meet the operational costs more easily, I also sell fast moving products such as airtime, bottled soda, soft drinks and other consumables.
I have identified a very rich market for food and clothing and further established an ideal supply chain. The urban locality where i operate my business comprises over 50,000 households each comprising averagely five family members. This translates to over 250,000 mouths to feed daily. This population also requires decent dressing for individuals of different age brackets. Understanding that many Kenyan families and households rely on cereals as the major staple food, there is a huge potential for my business to flourish especially when i have adequate funding to procure and stock adequate quantities of food. Also, Eggs are among the cheapest food stuffs that many families can afford very easily. Importantly, going by the population characteristics and the documented statistics, there is a high population growth rate that means a very high market growth rate. However, supplying the demands of the rich market proves to be a major challenge due to the financial constraints that currently befall my business. In order to realize the full potential of sustainable business growth, I am appealing for funding. In the event that i get the loan, I will use it to acquire additional stock of the food, beauty and cosmetic products which i sell. Part of the loan will also boost the stock of fast moving items. I will also use the money to diversify my business and therefore maintain a steady supply of the demanded products. In this regard, I appeal for funding that will be necessary to enable my business serve the community better
