About Me

I am Oscar luka from kitonguni village in mukaa and am 28 years of age. I come from a family of 7 members, i being the first born. I did my secondary education in 2007 but the journey of school life was never smooth. After my primary education, I was forced to repeat class eight as there was no money for high school fees. After another year in primary school, I passed so well but I finally went to a village secondary school. In mid the second year i was forced to drop school in form 2 and my ambition to learn was curtailed due to lack of school fees. Father was then practicing cash crop farming from where the family depended for livelihood. Unfortunately the land happened to have honor-ship wrangles and people destroyed all the crops as result. Mother being a housewife could not do anything and financial challenges set in as there was nothing to sell.
After a year or so of helping father to look for money to buy food and pay for my siblings fees, things became better and i thank God as i managed to go back to school and got a form 4 certificate. But i could not go to college after that. I have used my certificate to earn a living since but the salary i work for is very little to cater for all the needs.
Last year i thought of a way of creating income using other ways and the idea of rearing chicken for sell struck me. I bought young indigenous chicks and started the business which is doing well and promising. Am single but am forced to assist to raising my younger siblings up. I like making new friends and socializing. I am also a fun of music and reading novels.

My Business

I chose this type of business because am able to do it as i work which supplements my income. Again there is ready market once the chicks mature. Chicken are highly demanded in big hotels as food. Since i get assistance from a neighbor friend in feeding them and providing enough water and administering disease prevention drugs, i find little challenges. After selling around 100 chicken am able to get a profit of 350$ which is 115$ monthly profit. The profit depends on the number of chicken sold. One chicken can fetch (7-8) $. The approximated cost for raising 100 chicks is 120$.
Because of lack of enough capital am not able to supply chicken all through the month but after a period of two months, otherwise my plan is to supply monthly. I am able to get some good profit from the business which i use to buy feeds, drugs, and new chicks for reinvestment. If i get the loan i will be able to construct another chicken house and buy other chicks, of which my plan will be implemented. If i get the 100$ from zidisha i will use 25$ to buy chicks, 70$ to construct a house and the 100$ i have saved to cater for feeds feeders, water troughs, and drugs for disease prevention.

Loan Proposal

this time round i intend to use the money to pay for part time classes in auto card and arch card for engineering drawing lessons. i will use the total amount together with savings to pay the fee of $150. the skills will increase my chances of employment as an engineer.
