My name is Irene Bakhita and I am 27 year old lady and I am self-employed. I was raised by a single parent, my mother, since my father passed on when my siblings and I were still young. Since then, my mother has raised us up.
I have been able to complete both of my primary and secondary education, despite the hardships my mother went through to raise our school fees. During this time of my schooling, my siblings and I would sell groundnuts on the streets so as to be able to raise some money for both our school fees and also for our basic needs. This has been able to build our stability and tactics on how to survive.
I got interested in breeding pure German shepherds puppies which has been a very profitable and good business. The only problem is now being able to expand my breeding stock and maintaining the required standards for breeding and feeding of healthy pure German shepherd dogs. Up to date, this has been my business, but now I am planning on venturing into local chicken farming, since the demand for chicken meat is also on the rise. Due to this, I have already built a good structure for the chickens.
In our land, the culture is that you have to hustle in order to put food on the table. Apart from this type of culture, we also have our tribalistic cultures which may be very cruel, especially to girls. For instance, when I was young, I was not allowed to go to school. Back then, it is only the boys who were supposed to go to school, whereas girls remained at home to do the manual work.
Currently, I do not have any children, but am planning on getting children and raising them to be better members of the society. I am a person who has good hobbies, they are: recreational activities, mentoring children, playing sports, watching educational programmes (especially on farming tips), and making friends.
In my current business, I breed pure German shepherd puppies which are sold at a very good profit. One puppy goes for between 15000/= to 25000/=.
I shall produce local chickens at 1000/= for cocks and 800/= for hens. A tray of eggs costs 360/= and one month chicks at a cost of 200/=. These goods are in demand since they provide food in many peoples homes.
I chose rearing of dogs and chickens since I have the passion and they also generate income for the upkeep of the project and for my family. At my local farm, we only incur the cost of feeds and are able to get profit which I save for future investments, especially in my farm.
In the next level of my loan application, I intend to get a total of USD 653.04, of which, the purpose is to by feeds as well as renovation of the current poultry house:
Buying of new feeders and drinkers at USD 154
Floor replacement at USD 286
Iron Sheets at USD 125
Nails (All inclusive) at USD 48
Labour 40.02
