My name is Juliana Kadogo Wambua. Kadogo is a Kiswahili word that means the smallest! However I am not that small.I am a second born daughter in my family and ideally in my culture,I was supposed to be named after my Grand mother which was not the case!My mum told me that I was born premature and very tiny and thus the name given to me!
During my child wood, schools were not very many and they were scattered .I enrolled to a primary school which was 8km away and I would make a return trip daily by foot even without shoes!!It was just the normal life in the interior village of Lower Eastern Kenya just boundering the famous Tsavo National Park. After 8 gruelling years of my Kenya Certificate of primary education,I joined a good high school in my province and pursued a 4 year Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.I finished and I have done several tertiary courses which help me manoeuvre life every day.
I am married and with 2 babies,Davy 7 years and Agnes 5 years. They are amazing!Davy tells me that he would like to be a doctor and Agnes the other day told me that during her birthday which is 2 days away, she would like me to buy her an aeroplane cake because she would like to be a pilot! We live in Kilifi of Kenya's Coast.
I started business after college and I was compelled to the same by the passion that I had and the desire to use it as a platform to touch the poor community where I come from.I thought of buying and selling a product that my people produce so that I can help them in a way.
During my free time, I like watching animal documentaries!!I grew knowing so much about wild animals and I think such influenced me!!
I sell pure honey. My homeland is known for producing honey and I decided to deal with a product that I have grown knowing. I also help few of my people by buying their harvest and selling. In this era of fast foods,Honey can be used to substitute so much of sugary things and avoid many health problems.I promote health through my business.
One of the hardest hurdles I face in my business is the ability to access the best markets.I know honey and especially pure honey that which is not adulterated is highly market table but accessing the best markets is the biggest challenge. I got certified by the Kenya bureau of statics to handle the product but taxation is heavy especially when one wants to access places like super markets and other shops.
With that,I wish to expand my market by reaching as many customers. I would like to venture online marketing platform and also budget well for the taxation.I need a big capital to buy so much honey and get someone to design an online marketing plan for me.This is an expensive affair and I am searching for a loaning avenue.
This business basically sorts many of my expenses.I have paid for my 4 sibling's secondary and now college fees.I am also taking my kids to school and it sorts the fees and rents.I would now like to get a packaging and capping maching and I will start saving the profits once I get a smooth market.
With this loan, I will buy more stock from local bee farmers and this will increase my sales and profits. It will also help me partly fund my online marketing platform project which will be a big milestone for my business in my quest to reach big number of potential customers of my product.
