I am budding Kenyan entrepreneur in the beauty industry. I am creative and have found a way of making my hobby profitable. I am looking to Zidisha investors to invest in my business idea as I do not have the required source of income to fund my business fully at this point in time.
With the help of a previous Zidisha loan, I began my business. After a few months of operating a mobile nail salon, it became very challenging and I opted to look for a small space I to rent. This central location in Nairobi enabled me to service more clients in a day and my business picked up well.
2 years later i run into some financial challenges with growing overheads of rental spaces and business permits. I decided to partner with another person, though eventually we had to shut down operations due to many challenges.
My clients kept asking me to reopen, and I begun to offer services at the comfort of their homes. Through their encouragement and my rapport I have been able to reactivate some loyal clients.
Seeing as I have low overheads, I retained the old equipment and only replenish supplies as needed. I now work 3-4 days a week to serve my clients. Meanwhile, i work a 30-hour work week that assists me to earn a humble income to meet my family's basic obligations.
I have decided to rebuild my Nail & SPA Business with the seed capital I will raise from the investors to expand the business further, and provide for my family.
The seed capital I will raise will go into marketing my mobile Nail & Spa services. Because my business is new and little known, I have decided to invest my next loan into marketing my business. This will primarily include incentives/discounts, and Social media marketing via Facebook, Instagram & WhatsApp to drive both awareness and sales. This will help me to attract more clients and I will be able to double my customer base in the coming months.
In my current capacity, I cannot handle large group bookings or events. Hence I use an assistant from time to time.
On average I make KES 10,000-12,000 per week. Working 3-4 days a week and a 30% profit margin. I need about KES 50,000 which I intend to raise from some savings and this top-up loan.
With Marketing I can hire a fulltime assistant, serve more customers, expand our range of beauty services to cater to our clients’ needs i.e. facials, body scrubs and other beauty treatments.
Seeing that I have another source of income that caters to my family’s basic financial obligations, this spa business can sustain itself and eventually grow to support both my family and community as my main job.
I am very passionate about making people beautiful, and love connecting with my clients at a personal level. Others even consider it free therapy as I speak into their lives as I serve them!
Please invest in my business and help me achieve my financial independence goals. I trust you will find it viable and worth investing in. Thank you.
My business is a mobile nail palour/ spa. My business idea came about when I discovered that there are many career ladies within Nairobi, Kenya; who do not have the time to go to beauty salons to receive these services.
Instead, I provide an option to going to where the customer is. This could be their office, during lunch break or from the comfort of their home.
This model requires a minimum start-up capital of about USD 350.
This will enable me to buy the necessary equipment to start the business. This includes a UV /LED curing lamp, nail preparation supplies, a minimum of 8 gel polish colours to start with. Assuming that one client pays USD 5 for the service. In a week, let's estimate I get 10 clients. That makes USD 50 per week. The projected returns on this business are very lucrative, with minimum overheads of transport costs.
The business is able to repay it's cost within 7 weeks and make profit within a period of 12 weeks.
