I am a very enthusiastic entrepreneur with the desire to make the world a better place than I found it. I have been very keen to encourage other young men and women to take up business to better their lives than to sit and wait for government help or till they get jobs. There's a young man I have been training in my shop and i now intend to employ him full time to run one of them.
I have a wife and two young boys who I really adore and have set my goal to give them the best a father can give to his family.
I continue to express my sincere gratitude to the Zidisha team and to the lenders for enabling people like me make such a difference in our businesses. Indeed there has been a very big positive change in my family’s life in terms of general standard of living. My children have greatly improved academically because of attending a good school. My wife is about to complete her catering course and is really looking forward to putting up a cake and pastries shop once she completes at the end of this year.
From the moment I pumped more capital in my shop my customers responded very positively. The main reason for the big turnaround was the introduction of groceries. People used to walk long distance to visit the market in the town centre. With my shop offering the needed groceries so close home it was a real dream comes true. Once any customer stops for groceries it automatically follows that they also buy other house hold products like sugar, soap, oil, bread, milk etc.
My once dormant shop is now making a profit of US$ 100 a week which is about US $400 a month. I am saving 30% of it for my family’s future and another 30% for my business. We use the rest for our daily subsistence living.
My income has grown tremendously and I believe now is the right time to expand.
I have now identified a shop that has a very high potential for good business if it is well managed. The current owner of the shop is willing to sell it to me because he has not been making money out of it. According to me the man has not been serious in running the shop or is busy elsewhere and does not concentrate on it. The general appearance is also not appealing a factor I intend to change immediately. The shop itself is at a road junction connecting two residential estates which have relatively a high population living there. The building is in good shape but needs a fresh coat of paint and thorough washing. It also needs good lighting by addition of more security lights and some beautiful neon lights for the evenings.
I have very good working arrangements with my wholesale suppliers to supply me with products which I then pay for as I re-order for next batch. This is the norm with most small scale retailers in Kajiado town. I am therefore not worried about shop stock but only the groceries and cereals products which I buy from the farmers I need help in.
My request to you dear lenders is for US$ 472 to enable me takeover the shop and turn it around. The loan I get from you will be used as follows: US$ 173 painting and beautification US$ 58 Wiring, energy saving bulbs and neon lights US$ 92 repair of shelves, burglar proofing doors and windows Below is a brief breakdown budget of US$ 148 for the purchase of cereals and groceries. The items are purchased in assorted sizes and quantities as they are sold by farmers in the market or farms. Vegetables Ripe bananas (fruits) Unripe bananas (for cooking) Irish potatoes Cabbages Kales and spinach Onions Tomatoes Total estimated cost US$ 50. Cereals Beans (different varieties) Green grams Cow peas Green maize Rice Total estimated cost US$. I have confidence I will repay the loan in the stipulated time without struggling just like my previous one in which I maintained a 100% repayment rate. Thank you very much in advance
