I live in Nakuru, Free area estate. I started my business back in 2009 and the reason why I started the business is because I needed some extra income and my wife has a passion for hair dressing so I went to Equity Bank and applied for a loan that enabled me started a salon that deals with plaiting, Blow drying, dyeing and weaving.
I make approximately 50,000 ksh a month and incur total expense of 20,000 ksh inclusive rent is 4,000 labour 10,000, electricity 2,000 water 1,500 council fee is 7,000 per year.
I operate a saloon business, located at Baraka estate Lanet. From Nakuru Town you board Umoja two Baraka matatus and alight at Baraka the salon is located at the stage. The name of the salon is creative salon. I started this business because of the high demand that is created by high population which is made of young women and girls. I offer; blow-drying, weaving, plaiting, our customers have been demanding manicure, pedicure. Facial therapy, hair treatment and braids but I have been unable to provide the service due to inadequate additional capital. My customers prefer by business other than my competitors due to the high quality of services and expertise which my competitors don’t offer. This has enabled me to maintain high number of customers. Its my great desire to expand my business to meet the demands of my customers once I get the additional capital. I have been operating the business for four years and I have been able to acquire a small plot of land from the revenue I have been getting.
I make approximately 50,000 ksh a month and incur total expense of 20,000 ksh inclusive rent is 4,000 labour 10,000, electricity 2,000 water 1,500 council fee is 7,000 per year.
I will use my second loan as an additional capital to expand my business by buying one more drier, different types of Human hair that are currently on fashion. And also some ladies products like earrings, bracelets etc. I would also wish to my ever increasing number of customers a conducive environment, I will achieve this by replacing my floor which is not in a good state with a new one and paint the walls.
