My full names are Kennedy Kirika Kirika, a resident of Kiptangwanyi shopping center, a distance of about 45kilometers from Nakuru town. I was born in a place called Lanet about 12kilometers from Nakuru. This is where I attended my primary school, then joined a local secondary school around Lanet. I joined college as a P1 teacher. In Kenya P1, teachers are entitled to teach primary school but it is difficult to secure a job in the government’s public schools. We relocated with my family to Kiptangwanyi where I taught several primary schools. With the money that I got from the business I was able to start my own business of poultry which is very profitable. This was after an opportunity I realized in this business in this area. The market was good when I started. I am married with three children and living with my family in plot number 393 at the shopping center of Kiptangwanyi.
My business entails rearing of poultry in my small piece of land. I started this business in the year 2004 with a very few number of chicks. As a start off, I started with 50 chicks. Due to some difficulties here and there, 10 of the chicks died and I was left with 40. These numbers did not do well but I gained experience on how to raise them. The first lot of this poultry gave me a profit of 100000ksh despite the challenges that I underwent. It is to this point that I realized that with more attention and care this business would do well. I increased the number to 200chicken and this to my shock gave me a good profit. This was my basis for starting and maintaining this business. I now have about 1000chicken of different sizes. They range from small chicks, medium to already mature chicken. I hope to improve the business and even to increase more of the number of chicken in my small plot.
I am grateful for this loan as I know that this will change my business positively. With this loan I will I will add more layers in the farm. My plan is to increase the number to 5000layers at one time. This will increase the revenues in my business. I would also like to use the loan to search for market in other towns where the price for eggs is slightly higher.
