About Me

I'm a physics and chemistry teacher at a girls school in kitale. I'm also interested in agriculture which is actually what I want to be remembered for. It is the dry season here and will be so until March. Agricultural production is at it's lowest point as a result of the dry co conditions. I usually grab the opportunity to produce vegetables off season so as to capture the good markets when supplies are low. I already have half an acre under capsicum but I am pushing to plant more to reach an area of 1 acre. I need to buy 10,000 more seedlings to add to what I already have. My sales begins in a fortnight from today Jan 12th. I hope to grow my farming enterprise to export levels in three years time.

My Business

I'm a teacher by profession. I farm on the side. I'd like to grow my farming enterprise by taking it up more seriously. After years of trial learning I've identified my niche in onion farming which I'm currently establishing in stages. Stage 1 is a month underway and stage two is due. I'm targeting school markets next year as these are easily available to me given my acquaintances with school heads. I also do capsicum, beans, cabbages and maize. This dry season my specialty is capsicum which is coming up well

Project Proposal

This season we are doing a mixed project of capsicum, spinach, tomatoes and butternuts for local market. The idea is to mitigate against risk of low prices of one item in case that item is in over supply im the market. Rains have been heavy and ongoing hence the need to be cautious about the same. Market entry is scheduled for first week of December going forward.
