About Me

My name is Elizabeth. I am a luo from kenya. I have three sons whom I love so much. They give me the strength I need to work hard and they are truly blessings from above. My husband is a contractual worker, he does odd jobs for the local institutions. He is contacted when there is too much work to handle. Unfortunately at times he may remain jobless untill the next phone call. My goal is to help financially whenever he is out of work and if we can manage to continue the small packed food business together as a team whenever he cannot get any work, I am sure that my family will have started our long journey to financial stability in the future.

My Business

I am a good cook although I have not been to any catering classes. My business idea came up as a result of encouragement from friends. I usually hosted Sunday women meetings in my church where we raised funds but I was in charge of the cooking, and after several months of good feed back, I finally decided to use my talent to help my family, by providing packed lunch services to teachers at the local primary school. At first it was only three teachers but in the last month the number has increased to fifteen. on average I make 250ksh daily but that is only because I am not able to meet the demand for more than that despite the several requests I have received.

Loan Proposal

I need more cooking equipment, that needs around 50$. Cooking more food will require me to use a bigger means of cooking, for now my budget will allow me to use an African traditional large Jiko. One energy conserving Jiko costs approximately 40$. I will use 60$ to add more food stock, and 40$ to buy new and better lunchboxes and containers for packing the food. 8$ wil help me get the required medical certificate and check up that will allow me to provide services to more people within the area.
