I am Lydia Chepkorir, third born in a family of six. I live in Industrial Area Estate on the outskirts of Nakuru town. I have a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Kenyatta University and I am currently working as an intern at Amaco Insurance.
To enable me pay my bills as I looked for paying employment, I did set up a beauty shop at Industrial Area, opposite Riva petrol station, and it has been a success for over one year.
My hobbies are reading informative articles, listening to music, traveling and making new friends all over the world.
I have a beauty shop at Industrial Area where I sell cosmetics and makeup products. The shop is my main source of income, as the internship job does not pay me. It is my second year and the location is strategic due to good population.
For the last almost a year and a half, I have been selling fast-moving cosmetics and makeup products such as eyeshadow, liners and pencils, brushes and tools, lipstick, creams, perfumes, lotions, oils and others. Right now, I would like to introduce hair extensions, pieces and wigs.
The business has helped me pay my bills and the little savings has gone to supporting my younger siblings, who are currently in junior secondary. I recently exhausted my savings on renewing my business license for the next year and I am planning on the support of Zidisha to expand the business.
Thank you so much lenders for my first loan. The loan helped me improve on the stock of my beauty products. Although the past few months were not very smooth, I managed to make enough savings that I used them to renew my business license for the next year.
Right now I would like to introduce hair extensions, pieces and wigs in my shop. Customers have been asking for these products and thus I predict a good constant demand. I will therefore use the $132 loan to purchase these new products.
Most of these products give a profit margin of 15- 25% when acquired on wholesale, so with the introduction of these hair products I expect at least 15% increase in my profits. This will go to repaying the loan and savings for other projects such as opening my own salon.
Thank you.
