I am the first born in a family of four children. I
grew up and schooled in Nairobi in central
Kenya. In nairobi life was not easy because my
parent's earnings was very little and could not
give us enough support. After high school I
came to nakuru to look for employment and
latter on got married. Currently I live kikuyu
My business sells samosas. This is a kind of
pastry made in triangle shape with spices,
vegetables and meat. I decided to start the
business in 2012 to supplement my earnings from
casual work. My family had expanded and yet the
earnings from casual work were the same and
inadequate. Most of my customers are people who
live around the business or neighbors while others
are people who work near the business. My
biggest challenge is lack of funds to expand my
business. I am proud because the business
provides nutrition to the slum residents. In future I
hope to expand and open a small restaurant in the
slums to a offer a wide variety of meals.
I will use the loan to purchase wheat flour,
vegetables, potatoes and ground nuts. Flour will
cost ksh 5000, potatoes ksh 2000, vegetables ksh
1000 and ground nuts kshs 2000. I will buy flour,
vegetables, potatoes and ground nuts in bulk and
have discounts. I will also increase on my stock
and so increase sales. I will also add ground nut
snacks to increase variety. All these will lead to
more sales and increased revenue and profit
leading to stability of my business. The loan will
make me earn increased personal income and this
will enable me to buy better food and other basic
needs for my family.
