I am a 46 year old male based in the town of Zambia. I am married with 4 children. I work for the Ministry of Agriculture as a research assistant. Apart from formal emplyment, i have a 5 hacter small holding where i keep 5 cattle and 8 goats. I also keep 6 turkeys.
I am in formal employment under the Ministry of Agriculture. My work involves carrying out surveys, data entry, analysis and report writing of social economic nature. The income i receive is not enough to enable me meet the escalating cost of living. Hence my venture into livestock farming. My aim is to increase my goat enterprise as they easily multiply so that i increase my income base.
I want to increase the number of goats from the current 6 to 50 breeders. Would like to buy more females so that they can increase production. One female goat can have to kids in a year. If given a loan, can buy 10 new goats, hence can have 20 goats in a year. Sold at 6 months at $20 can earn me $400. This translates to 4, 000 ZMW. As the number will increase over time it will mean added income for me and family
