am
susan wambui nyambura born and brought up in naivasha district of
nakuru county, viwandani sublocation.in an estate called site and
services in Naivasha central .i am aged 31 years. back in the year 1986
i joined a nursery school YMCA ECD and later joined class one in 1990
and completed my primary school in 1997.In 1998,i was admitted in form 1
in a school called Arch bishop ndingi which is a catholic mission
school as a border and due to school fees problems i was later
transferred to Naivasha day secondary school whereby i completed my
form one in 2001.i have been brought up in a family of seven and i am
the last born.whereby learning was a problem. my mother was a single
mother and so she could work hard and engage in numerous businesses
for us to feed this made me to venture tooth and nail into business. i
am married and a mother of two kids a girl named Mary Nyambura aged
twelve years and a boy a Jackson Mwangi aged seven years.since my mother
struggled a lot in business to bring us up,this made me to adapt
seriously into business whereby i engaged myself in youth groups where
we were taken for entrepreneurship trainings by church management .we
were trained on how to start a business and marketing.i succeeded to
complete a one weeks training and was awarded a certificate for the
training
my
business is located at Naivasha town central business district. Kubwa
supermarket opposite near kenya power transformer along mbaria kaniu
road.It is the fifth among the lined containers opposite the supermarket
and is green in color.I emphasize in selling second hand clothes only
for example women clothes, skirts,shirts,men
trousers,shirts,shoes,sweaters,scarfs and children clothes.Naivasha is a
cosmopolitan town composed of rich and poor, the poor are the majority
their earning is below standards. Most of them work in the flower farms
and so the demand is high because of affordability and the goods are
cheapand according to the survey they also need to balance their basic
needs(food, shelter and clothing). So they prefer the second hand clothes
because they are cheaper compaired to my competitors who are into new
clothes(boutiques)The business is profitable because the custom duty is
already paid by the importers. In the other case I purchase the goods at
a wholesale price and sell at a higher price. The risk the business
faces is theft especially when transporting, sunlight may cause wear and
tear and also cause them to fade.this may also occur when they are on
display and even when customers are trying to fit into them. The monthly
costs are house rent 2000,security 3000,water 1500, electricity
2000.Profit depends on the number of the goods stocked, the more the
goods are sold the more the profit so I manage to buys goods after a
fortnight
i would like to take this opportunity to thank the lenders of zidisha for approving my first loan which had a very big impact in my business and made me successful to all the plans i had for my business from the profit i got in my business,i have managed to expand my business am proud because zidisha has made this possible, thanks for empowering businesses.i an requesting for the second loan to boost my business more and more by increasing stock.i came to realize most of my customers do not have time to come shopping because most of them are bank workers, ave managed to attract all the customer from the banks around my town area and they have given me a big order of office wear of 250piecesof black suits and 50 pieces of shirts.
