My names are Charles okello,I am the second born in a family of three children. My dad was secondary school while my mum was a primary school teacher. My parents were very loving and caring ,however the cruel hands of death robbed my parents from me through tragic road accident when I was just turning 18years and in my final year of studies in secondary school. The death of my had a very devastating effects on me and my brothers both socially and economically.
I was not able to raise money for college fees after the death of my parents. I turned to farming to raise money for fees. I planted traditional leafy African Vegetables in our piece of land and irrigated it use water from a nearby stream. Though it was only a small garden, it gave me good profit. I considered expanding the farm so as to meet the huge market deficit in the markets.
Kisumu is a small city in western Kenya .The main occupants are the Luos. It borders lake Victoria and there are so many unique features like the ramogi hills. Welcome to Kisumu
I am soccer fun and spend my free time watching football. I also play football for my county club.
I am a small scale commercial farmer with vision of expanding my agribusiness to be a large scale farm once I have the resources. I provide traditional African vegetables grown organically to my esteemed customers who include schools, hotels and individuals. The demand for fresh and healthy vegetables is always high because of health reasons and the nutrient content of the vegetables.
I choose the traditional African vegetables because the grow faster and have good returns
My monthly costs are $100 for seeds, transportation and miscellaneous. my monthly revenues are $300 per month on average.
I use the profits from my agribusiness to pay my college fees, pay for my utility bills, and support my young brother in paying his school fees. Thank you
