Born some 35 years ago; I am the first of three children and brought up by my mother (single mother). Even though things were difficult for me and my siblings too my mother was determined and ensured that we all go to school, because to her education is key to personal development. Her encouragement keeps us going with good and discipline training.
Having excelled in Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), I entered into Secondary school. Since things were difficult for me and my younger siblings financially, I have to sell on the street during off school hours to make some income and in order to supplement my mother's meager income so as to pay family bills and also buy clothing for myself and also for my younger siblings.
With determination and persistence, I successfully passed my exams at the secondary school and then entered the University of Ghana where I studied Psychology and philosophy with good working knowledge information technology (IT).
I was posted to Opportunity International for my national services. Having good personal relationship with both staffs and clients couple with good working knowledge in IT, I was retained after my national services.
Since salaries and other working conditions in this part of our world are meager, I decided to add breading of dogs and selling them as a part-time business.
My love for Dogs motivated me to set up my kennel. I began with two mixed breeds of German shepherd and Doberman. I have over the years moved from breeding mixed breeds to pure breeds of dogs. I now own a Pitbull, Swiss Shepherd, Beorboel, Maltese and a German shepherd. Because of my busy schedule, I have employed the services of couple of guys in my community to take care of my dogs when I am away for work.
My business has over the years grown from owning just two dogs to five. And I must admit that I am happy, motivated and encourage by this
I breed foreign dogs and sell the litters. I built a kennel by the side of my house which houses five different breeds of dogs.
Some few months ago i rented a shop in my community to open a pet shop since we normally travel for long to get dog food and dog accessories.
Because lots of people in Ghana are trusting dogs to be loyal more than security guards , pet shop business is a viable business because it is very rare and i feel like minimizing the distance dog breeders in my community have to travel to buy dog food and dog accessories. The location of my shop is on the main road leading to my community and one would not miss it at any point.
l chose this business because I have love dogs and it my passion to see them have the best care from their owners.
So far i have spent 7,200 to pay for three years rent in advance. Utility bill is 100.00 monthly and labor 300.00. My average monthly revenue is about GHC 2,000.00 out of which I defray the costs I incur in expense in respect of salary and utility.
When granted the loan, I will purchase dog food, dog accessories and vitamins. I expect to supply my community with the best dog food and authentic dog accessories to make every dog including my dogs in the community a happy one.
Proceeds from the business will be partly invested into the business and partly used to cater for my family and a cousin who i now pay his school fees.
Given the loan i will restock my shop with dog food and accessories, especially with brands that most of my loyal customers request for. I will also brand a couple of products such as dog collars, bowls, towels with the Happy Dog logo as a way of marketing my brand as well. This i believe will attract more customers to my shop. Once it goes as planned, sale will go up, i will be able to maximize profit and this will enable me increase the salary of my worker who is done serving his probationary period.
Below are the list of things i will buy to the shop when i receive the funds.
GC DOG FOOD $300.00
PURINA DOG CHOW $300.00
BREEDERS DOG CHOW $300.00
PETLIFE ESSENTIAL $300.00

PROTECTOR $250.00
BREWERS YEAST $200.00
