About Me

I am alex kamau from kamoronyo village. I am the first born in a family of three. I went to school in kamoronyo primary school which is a public school since my parent live below the poverty line and couldn’t afford academy school fees. I did well in my O level and got a chance to join a good high school where I performed well though I had problems paying my fees. This gave me a chance to be admitted to university under government sponsorship and hence relieved the stress of raising high education fees. Though the sponsorship needed more money for my upkeep as well as paying my small fees required by the school. To cater for this I started a small farming business of growing maize, beans and potatoes in our home area in a farm allocated to me by my parents and another rented one. This business have given me a chance to continue living in school and support my other family members though it doesn’t give much as all the profit I spend on paying for our upkeep. I would like to expand it more and at least help those behind me

My Business

I started my business back in 2011 when I was joining university and so far it has been good though with a lot of challenges due to lack of capital to buy the standard inputs. My business is growing beans, maize and potatoes in kamoronyo village in Nakuru County. Maize and beans are the major crops in my farm as they give the highest returns with minimum inputs. I harvest them and sell to the millers in Nakuru and Thika town and sometimes a sell them to brokers in the area. The potatoes are seasonal and useful to ensure crop rotation in my farm though the also a high return in a good month. This are the best types of crops to grow as they form the staple food of our country hence high market demand.

Loan Proposal

I intend to buy pesticides and hire laborers to help in weeding the crops. the sum should be sufficient to ensure that i have a bumper harvest this season. the pesticides will be worth about Ksh.10000 and the labourers will cost around Ksh.8000.
