About Me

My name is Beatrice Cherono Bett with 42 years of age. I come from Nakuru County, Olenguruone. I'm a married woman and a mother of 6 children. 2 in University, 3 in secondary schools and 1 in grade 6.

I'm a form four graduate and right now I'm a fully committed dairy farmer besides being a Wife. I have practised dairy farming for 5 years and right now it's my stable source of income and daily livelihood.

I'm a registered cooperative member for Mavuno Dairy Cooperative Sacco with Headquarters in Olenguruone town.

My Business

In my years of marriage, being a housewife had my life unproductive. I didn't like this and I had to engage myself in something to be self reliant and aid my husband in some of the basic family needs.

I figured out that I could be a dairy farmer at the comfort of my home. I've done this over 5 years now. I have 5 cows for dairy milk production mainly for sale (both locally & at Coolers), 2 heifers and 1 bull. I've done this alone over that long. I'm a registered cooperative member for Mavuno Dairy Cooperative Sacco and I make my monthly saving and contribution with the sacco.

Right now, my 2 heifers are "expectant"(F L Of Better Word) and in 2 weeks they'll have calves and ready for milking. In light of this, I'm expecting an increase in cow feeds, milking materials, labour. I need extra money these things including hiring 2 workers

I've had a chance to borrow with Mavuno in order to fund my inputs both in cow feeds, milking materials and extra labour.

I learned of Zidisha through a friend and looking forward to getting a boost for my dairy farming business. Thank you

Project Proposal

My 2 heifers are yet to deliver their calves in 2 weeks. These alongside the other 5 cows would make a total of 7 milking cows. I anticipate an increase in requirements of cow feeds, labour, shed expansion, milking materials eg milking cream, milking bottles and cans together with carrying jericans and callans.

I'm looking for an extra funding to help me run these activities and buy these materials. I look forward to a funding from Zidisha Members and hopefully all goes well and I'll be down to feed the nation, Inshallah.
