I come from a very humble background and the setup of my extended family is quite unique. My parents were blessed with three children and i am their first child. My early childhood life was concentrated in the rural areas of Kisumu a city near the shores of lake victoria.
In 1998 i joined a tertiary college to pursue a 2 year Diploma Course in IT. I completed my training in December 1999 and secured internship with a leading institution where i gained more experience and increased a passion for computers.
Since then i have remained to be a tutor for computers. In 2006 I used about $120 i had saved to buy a used computer and started a small IT training centre.
I am married and a father of five children 3 of whom are girls and 2 boys. We all live in a cool neighborhood in the western parts of Kenya Trans Nzoia County in the town of Kitale. My children go to a local school with the first born just about to join class 8. The youngest who is a boy is set to join kindergarten in the coming year. My lovely wife is a house wife and i hope that she will be my secretary if i set up a good computer training college.
I love and dream teaching computers, i feel so nice when i see the people i have taught computers showcase their skills and excel in life. i would like to make more impact in our society.
My business is basically a computer training industry where i offer computer instruction to people at a fee.
As of now i am engaging in cyber cafe & computer accessories shop. my stock is limited and i intend to top up.
the cyber cafe is serving two prong purpose of being a training room while at the same time as a walk in walk out computer cafe for the public.
I charge $5 for one package e.g. to learn Ms-Word or Ms-Excel etc. This is a good business with returns if i successfully set up just a humble college.
In this era of global village, all aspects of human life need to be digitized and that can only be achieved by mass basic computer training done is a structured way.
I intend to lead all the way in provision of computer based training for software support as well as hardware support.
Students who excel from my training center are well equipped to be end users at various levels of employment in our great society for those who enroll in software application programs.
Requirements include;
- additional computer systems
- computer desks
- chairs
- power sockets and connections
- Uninterruptible Power Supply Backups
- Routers
- Network Cabling
- White Board
- LCD Projectors
- Training Manuals
- Curriculum
- Accredited Examination Body
- Additional tutors
The listed items are what i need to successfully manage an accredited ICT learning center.
My new loan application will go toward making furniture, that is computer desks; as such the loan amount will be able to purchase 2 computer desk and a chair.
cost of computer desk locally made = USD $90 x 1 pcs = $90
cost of chair locally made = USD $ 60 x 1 pcs = $60
I will purchase computers and establish a computer training center where i will be providing computer courses for people within the community and town.
Since i have a lot of experience in computer tutorship the courses that i will offer are up top standard and will be charged at standard rates to ensure that the business is sustainable in the long run and able to repay loan awarded.
Purchase of (10pcs) X-UK computers @ $150 each
Purchase of HP Laserjet printer @200
Purchase of X-UK photocopier @600
My profit will increase by between 20 - 40% because i will be able to enroll more students in the class
This will be of great benefit to me because it will improve my income and hence help me afford to keep my children in school as well.
