My name is Charles Metet, 39 years old. I am the first born out 6 boys living in Bomet County (a county where I was raised by a humble family). I went to school at Chilgotwet Primary, then joined Kabungut High School where I completed my fourth form in the year 1995. I joined the Institute of Commercial Management College in 2012-2013 and completed my diploma. I later got a job at Stegro Sacco Computers Technologies in Nairobi in January 2014, and then got a job at Sema Cybercafe in Nairobi.
The life in Nairobi was challenging, since transport cost is very high and the cost of rent is so high for a person whose salary is meager, but I worked hard and saved just enough to buy a computer. After thinking hard I decided to quit so as to start my own business. I opted out [of my job] and moved to Bomet Silibwet to start my small computer services [business] of typesetting and printing.
I took inspiration from other computer service operators after I noticed that clients were comfortably beginning to require the services of computer operators in Silibwet town. I'd always fancied running my own business, so after spotting this opportunity, it was a case of now or never. Having worked for a cyber cafe for one year, my knowledge of the market meant I could capitalize on the growing trend towards the use of new technology.
I operate a cyber café, which deals with printing and photocopying business at Bomet town. Most of my customers are college students who have made my business grow at a faster rate, since most of the assignments given to them need to be typed and printed.
Since I bought two additional computers after the Epson printer and digital camera with my previous funds, my savings have improved from USD $150 to $290. I would therefore request the Zidisha lenders to grant me a loan of $820 to enable me stock my shop with computer stationeries so as to make me a supplier of surrounding computer shops and secondary schools who normally purchases photocopying reams for their uses in schools.
Hi, zidisha I would like to use the loan to buy a new better printer that cost at least USD 200 so that I would-be able to have quality photo printing for passports, to improve speed on printing clients work and also to give a better services on photocopy, scanning and others. Therefore, on doing this I would be able to work for many clients within a short time and with a quality finishing .Hence, due to the services I would give them through a better printer machine that I will buy from the loan you will grant me, will increase my profit earnings by USD 30.Thus, the USD 20 profit that I will earn will enable me save for the maintenance of the machine and others such as the photocopier and computers, therefore USD 10 savings will be used to buy the ink cartridges, photocopy papers and other materials for photocopy and printing work, therefore others saving from the profit earn from the service will be saved for future.
