I am Humphrey Kagai . I grew up in Kenya , in Nakuru county, I am 43 years old.
Having completed my primary and secondary education, I attended a polytechnic where I learnt about electrical installation work .
I then searched for a employment but I could not get a place.
I therefore decided to start looking for electrical installation and repair works in my area. I have been straggling to do this activity which gets me some income.
With zidisha funds I have began to sell and supply some materials, while I do the installation work
I have been able to expand my business, now that I have been funded by zidisha.
I bought more useful tools to use in my work, as well as some materials, that are needed for repair.
I have added one more person to help in the installation work.
The business is getting up and profits have increased steadily.
I thank zidisha team for the funding and support they have given me
My name is Humphrey Kagai. I am 41 years old I live in Ongata Rongai in a place called Kandisi. I do electrical installation in premises and also repairs of equipment's like electric kettles, cookers and microwave ovens. I have two assistants who assist me in this work. I pay them $5 per days work.
I make $19 – 25 a day depending on the electrical equipment damage, and for the electrical installation I make $122.27 in a single house if at all I have work on electrical installation. I face challenges due to the limitations I have, I would like to open up a workshop to carter for my materials and equipment like spares, and I need to stock with spares and tools like:-
Materials
1) Cooker element $2.90
2) Top plug $1.50
3) Cartridge fuses $0.50
4) Insulated cables 1.5mm2 per roll $52.32
5) Insulated cables 2.5mm2 per roll $139.53
6) Flexible cables 2.5mm2 per meter $1
Tools
1) Continuity tester $ 85.10
2) clamp on tester $184.30
3) crimping tool $ 265.95
This will enable me to expand my business, work with ease and employ more people at my workshop to reduce the joblessness that we have with our youths in the area. I would also like to take this opportunity to tap into the new houses that are being built as the place is still developing to offer my electrical installation services.
If I get the required funding I will be in a position to cater for my customers needs and also create employment for I will need a team to work with.
