About Me

I grew up in Kariobangi south. My life was messed up by my father who wanted me to get married. I met a friend who later sponsored my eductaion(Peninah) During peer education workshops in the community shared with her my plights and she took me back to school. She paid for my school fees until I completed form 4.I was then trained on photography skills and provided with a camera to start small business in the community. I now live with my kid and left the old man for my life. My dreams is to become a journalist and be able to support myself and my kid.

My Business

I take photos in the community. I move around the community with my camera and people call me to take them photos. People in my community are so poor they cannot afford to own cameras. Each photo costs 50 ksh. I decided to start the business after completing my High school and getting training from safe spaces. That's also my ambition to tell stories that have never been told through photos. My biggest challenge is the equipment. I only have an old flash camera. Most of my customers are local people but sometimes I get businesses in occasions like weddings and funerals. My goal is o own a photo Studio. I'm proud of my business because it is leading me to my dream and has gotten me out of early marriage bondage which is so common in Africa.

Loan Proposal

I will purchase a digital camera and DVDS to put bulky photos for my clients. If am able to put photos in DVD the cost of producing will go down and that will increase my profit. I expect to expand my business to other areas surrounding my community. I believe I will make profit and become successful and pay for my journalism course.
