About Me

I am 23 years old and has been for long interested in entrepreneurship. Currently I am staying at Gachororo in Juja, Kiambu county where I have resided for the past 4 years. I have a humble background of 2 parents and seven siblings. I am the 3rd born and was privileged to obtain tertiary education which has drained much of the family finances and my younger siblings who are in tertiary, secondary and primary levels of education also inspire me to be independent and reduce reliance on my parents. In my secondary school I used to sale food products such as Avocado and groundnuts which I obtained cheaply from our home which enabled me to obtain pocket money for my studies. I studied a course in food science and technology during which I got an attachment in a milk industry and my association led to a business linkage whereby they sold to me milk products at wholesale price and I distributed them in student hostels at a retail price. I expanded the business to include other retail traders thus increasing my stock and returns. I and wish one day to own a food industry or own a chain of food distribution networks in Kenya. I am hardworking and believe that my different abilities will help me to be successful since the culture of the Kisii people of being aggressive and hardworking has been incalculated in me.. I have diversified skills i.e in other areas such as driving and knowledge in areas such as Information technology. Other hobbies I have include reading and writing for pleasure. I suppose to integrate this skills in my life to make a living and be a blessing into humanity.

My Business

I have been engaged in retail of fresh milk for the past 2 years and has recorded success through distribution to various customers. I obtain my product from a dairy industry and deliver them to my retail customers which allows me to make some sustainable profit returns. People need fresh milk for breakfast and as a refreshment. The products are in high demand during sport events and holiday sessions i.e December but all the year through people need constant food supplies.I chose these kind of products because it was in line with my course of study. I receive competition from well established companies which deliver their milk products directly through their employees. I could like to diversify the products I sale and not only dealing with fresh milk but including yoghurt, fermented milk (mala) cheese and ghee. I also need to buy a bicycle to make my expenses cheaper unlike using public means of transport which charge highly. This will enable me to increase my stock and reach more customers allowing for an expansion. Currently I supply milk to retail traders and sometimes to individual customers to increase my daily sales. I spend 900kshs to buy my dairy products every day which enables me to make profit of up to 300KShs in a good day`s sales. during peak times, my daily profit can reach 500KShs while at worse moments I can make 30Shs. I use my profits for reinvestment in growing the business and in sustaining my livelihood.

Loan Proposal

I Need to buy a Refrigerator for storage of milk products. This will cost 183 Dollars. The fridge will be meant to increase the shelf life of the milk products by maintaining them at lower temperatures. Many times when the products are stored at room temperatures they deteriorate at a faster rate which at times leads to huge losses. This results especially when there is a low turn out of customers and am forced to store them until the next day. With the availability of a fridge I will be able to hold the products in storage for longer and deliver them conveniently especially in the morning and evening hours when the temperatures have fallen. I will use part of the money i.e 25 dollars to increase the stock of dairy products i.e yhoghurt, cheese, ghee and fermented milk (maziwa lala). I have an expectation that the profits will double because the losses incurred through milk spoilage will be minimized. I will used the profits to expand the business to reach more customers and also expand the clothing business which I opened for my younger brother. I will be very grateful for your support. Thanks in advance.

i received a loan of ALMOST 20,000 KENYAN SHILLINGS BUT OUT OF THIS i COULD ONLY WITHDRAW 3900. I COULD NOT BE ABLE TO INVEST IN THE ONLINE BUSINESS THAT I HAD SUGGESTED EARLIER SINCE THE AMOUNT OF MONEY COULD NOT SUFFICE IN BUYING A LAPTOP FOR THE BUSINESS. I COULD LIKE TO PAY THE MONEY I OWE ZIDISHA i.e. 3900 and withdraw my membership since I cant raise 17000 as a deposit to guarantee my continued stay and borrowing. Please consider my case for I am willing to pay your money but don't have enough cash to raise the deposit that your required. at the moment i am not doing any business because they were hampered due to lack of finances. thanks for the support you gave me so far

With the Zidisha Loan, I bought a second hand bicycle that I used for transporting the milk products that I was selling. The Bicycle cost 75 dollars. The other remaining amount from the loan was used to increase my stock for the dairy products wherein I bought More packets of fresh milk, yoghurt and Ghee. I was getting a profit of 50 Percent, which was a rise from the previous 30% and the profit enabled me grow my business, buy household equipments and in paying my rent. I bought a gas cooker for my household and other untensils. Unfortunately the business came to a halt after the change on management of the company`s personnel. this is where I had been buying the milk products and since I could not comply with the hiked prices, I had the option of quitting and began a clothing business where I managed it under my younger brother while I did freelance writing whereby I was borrowing a laptop from friends but has proved to be very unreliable. My younger has been able to run the business smoothly and it used to fetch profits of up to 65 % untill a riot from students caused loss off property leaving us to begin from Zero. I have stocked the business and with another Zidisha loan, I will be able to soar to great heights in the business sector.
I spend my leasure days with from friends in our church- The seventh day Adventist church whereby, we attend church outreach to minister to perishing souls. I also engange in hiking together with family and friends especially from church.
My two brothers are schooling in a local university in second and first year of studies and would like to advance in business to help in paying their school fees together with my other two younger siblings who are in class five.

The loan I acquired from Zidisha was used to finance my dairy business wherein I increased the stock and the variety of goods I was selling with the facilitation of a motorcycle. I bought more fresh milk, yoghurt and ghee products which I suoolied to my customers. The business prospered in the first 2 months and enabled me to buy equipments for my house such as a gas cooker and other untensils. Unfortunately the business came into a standstill when the management of the company from where I bought the milk products changed. With the new management, I could not get enough profits and therefore had to quit the business and began a clothing business. I invested my money in a clothing which I left my younger brother to run while I engaged in online freelance writing on part time. The business fetched good profits to enable me pay rent, get household necessities and also repaying the loan. It expanded and gave me profits of up to 60 percent. A strike occured in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and students on riot broke into my business premises subsequently stealing all my stock. This affected my repayment much and could not repay my loans on time. At the moment, I have restocked the clothing business and it is being run by my younger brother while I manage it though the stock is limited and could like to borrow a loan that will be enough to buy a mini laptop for freelance writing business and at the same time finance the clothing business. Attached is a photo where I stocked my clothing business that is being run by my younger brother in the picture

Zidisha has been of great help to me in my business deals. I engaged in a millk business though it came to an halt after some challenges. Afterwards I engaged in a clothing business which also stopped for sometime after my stock was stolen. But Now I am still engaged in the clothing business which has picked up and is reaping great financial benefits. I am optimistic that it will expand and I will be able to create employment opportunities because currently, it is my brother who runs it for me.

    Hello, Zidisha Team
I thank you for the effort you are making in changing people`s Lives through cheap loans.
I took a loan that helped me much in my dairy daily products business and also helped me to open up a new clothing business for my younger brother. In my distribution of dairy products, I diversified the products I sold to my customers because had enough finances. With the loan I was able to buy Yoghurt for sale as opposed to times before when I could only sell fresh milk products.TI could also reach a larger area for more customers.
Unfortunately a new management team at the industry from which I obtained my milk products was formed and they sold their products to me at an expensive rate and the business could not be sustained. The clothing business on the other hand flourished a lot before the business premises were looted during a strike at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology that led to a sudden demise of the business. My Loan repayment was thus affected, but I intend to begin an all new business once get new capital.

I am not currently doing business because I got engaged in an internship program and the guy who was selling for me left the job for other business. I cant raise the remaining amount to finish repaying the loan and yet want to keep my on-time repayment score high. please accept my plea to reduce the repayment amount.

My business was affected due to theft of my assets. also students broke into my premises during a strike at Jomo Kenyatta University Of Agriculture and technology and stole my stock which worsened the state of my business. The money I invested in the business was thus lost but I have fully recovered after getting another loan from a different financial institution though it was small. I have regained from the shock incurred and began a different business of clothing for which I took the idea from a friend . I hope it will get good returns which will help me repay the loan quickly i have began seeing the fruits it has.

The dairy business ultimately came into a sudden closure due to drought conditions in Kenya which made milk prices to highly rise. tHE COST OF PRODUCTION INCREASED MUCH AND THE PROFITS FROM THE MILK INDUSTRY GREW LESSER AND LESSER. I opted out of the milk industry and ventured into the clothing industry. in my adjustment to the new market , i received various challenges which I have tried always to cope with and I believe soon I will be able to overcome. with the zidisha loan, I was able to buy shirts, trousers, ties and hoods for sale. the returns were not promising at first but the business is picking up and soon will highly competitive as my desire is.

My dairy business collapsed due to the closure of the company where I used to buy milk products. I invested the money in clothing business that is not doing well since it is located near the university premises whereby students are my main customers. being a long holiday, majority of them are not at school which means low sales. additionally, I have started repaying my higher education loans thus making it hard to meat my target.

The ZIDISHA loan helped me to expand my business by enabling me to acquire more financial resources with which I bought diversified dairy products for sale to my customers. Through the loan I also obtained a second hand bicycle that made my travels to reach customers easy. The bicycle cost 60 dollars while 22 dollars were used to increase the quantity of daily products supplied, i.e Yoghurt, cheese, UHT Milk and freshly packed milk products. The profit returns doubled and enabled me to open a clothing business for my younger brother. i also used part of the profits to pay my university fee arrears.

My business is booming and has recovered from the shock I underwent which affected it earlier. The profits can enable me to pay more in my instalments.

I won`t be able to pay the amount of money suggested early because of an incident I was involved recently whereby while going to purchase the products for my business, I was pick pocketed the cash that I had. This has affected the amount of products I can afford to buy at the moment because I only happened to remain with the electronic money which I had saved in my M-PESA account. This has also contributed to a dire need to replace some documents such as ATMs and School ID among others which requires capital. I need time to recover from the shock thus seek to reduce my weekly repayments as I look for ways to increase my repayments later. Bear with me please.
    Kind regards.
