My name is Linus Melly aged 34 years old married with one kid. I live in Kapang'etuny village in Kapsabet Division within Nandi County. I work with Kenya Police Service at the rank of constable under Tourist Police Unit where i am currently based in Mombasa. I did my primary and secondary school certificates in Tegat Primary and Kamobo Secondary respectively. I later joined Kenya Police College in Kiganjo. I started dairy farming business so that i can be able to meet basic needs to my family and as well pay for my degree course. The proceeds i get from my project goes to animal feeds and paying my two employees while the rest caters for my daughters school fees. I love reading and making good new friends whom we can share progressive ideas in our lives.
My project is growing steadily. I have seven cows which i rear in a small family land. I plan to set aside certain amount of money from my salary that i will always use to repay my Zidisha loan.In the mean time, the product (milk) from my dairy is sold to the local community since the quantity produced is small. The demand for milk in my location is high which has prompted intermediaries (brokers) to go round collecting milk from different houses and taking them to Kenya Creameries Corporation (KCC). The only challenge that faces my project is change in weather (dry season) and out-break of cattle diseases. An increase of number of livestock requires that I purchase a machine for cutting nappier grass.
Now that i used my first loan in securing and fencing a place where i intend to construct my zero grazing, i intend to purchase construction materials with my second loan. The materials include 30 iron sheets, 20 sacks of cement, posts, stones, sand, timber, nails, water tank, water pipes and labour pay all totalling to 900 US Dollars (Kshs. 80,000). The benefit i expect from my modern zero-grazing is an increase in milk production and manure for plantation. In addition, I intend to start a BIO-GAS production for my house. I urge lenders to support me so that i can achieve one of my goals and be an example in my locality and enlighten other young talents in the community. Since the loan won't be able to meet all the requirements, i will first buy those materials for starting foundation. The remaining amount i will use it to pay for labour. I once again request lenders to give me a supporting hand in achieving my goal by funding my loan.
