About Me

My name is Antoinette Tiendrebeogo and I have lived in Bobo-Dioulaso since my childhood in the 11th district. I lived first with my parents in a shantytown, and after 19 years the town divided up our district, and our family received 3 plots of land. My farther gave me one plot and my two older brothers each a plot. I am a mother of 5 children, and my business is the sale of charcoal. I started to sell charcoal in 2002 without a permit to sell charcoal. I bought the bags of charcoal from the Agent of Forests and Waters, the shipment had 200,000 briquettes (blocks of fuel), and I resold them by the bag for retail at 50 francs. All the women purchased from me so that they could cook. I had the help of the manager of the Department of Waters and Forests to obtain a permit to sell charcoal too, and I started to travel to villages to look for charcoal and resell it.

My Business

I sell charcoal on the plot that my father gave me, with my permit to sell charcoal. I travel to surrounding villages to purchase cheaper charcoal. I have a daughter who sells with me. Every night we put charcoal in plastic bags to resell at retail. I am the only one that has this sales permit that allows me to sell by the bag at retail. Some resellers that don't have a permit buy from me and resell too. I'm telling you that the sale of charcoal is profitable. The state of Burkina Faso struggles against the abusive cut of charcoal. I work a lot with transporters who bring me some briquettes in town, and I pay from 50000 to 75000 francs for the trip, according to the distance to the village. I have come to ask for your loan to pay for charcoal during the dry season and stock up on it, because there are some localities that are not accessible during the rainy season because the roads are not passable. Antoinette Tiendrebeogo je suis à bobo dioulaso depuis mon enfance dans le secteur 11 je vivais d’abord avec mes parents dans une zone non lotie et dix-neuf année après la commune a loti notre zone et notre famille a gagné trois parcelles, mon père m’a donné alors une parcelle et les deux grand frères chacun a eu son parcelle. Je suis mère de cinq enfants, mon activité est la vente de charbons du bois. J’ai commencé à vendre des charbons en deux mille deux sans avoir une autorisation de vente de charbons, c’est ainsi que j’ai payé les sacs de charbons avec les agents des eaux et foret, le chargement a deux cent mille et je revends par sacs et détails à 50 francs et toute les femmes viennes payer avec moi pour faire la cuisine. J’ai eu l’aide d’un responsable des eaux et forêts pour obtenir une autorisation de vendre du bois l’également et j’ai commencé à voyager dans des villages pour chercher du bois et revendre.
