About Me

Eric Ofori-Yeboah is my name. I endured quite a torrid childhood since my father became incapacitated after being diagnosed with stroke when I was only nine years of age. My mother who was then a primary school teacher struggled alone to take care of the whole family. She did well to help me through secondary education but the burden became too much for her because she also had to cater for my three younger siblings. Considering this and being the eldest child, I had to drop out of school to help her in taking care of the family. I decided to go into subsistence farming to feed my family but I am now into commercial farming, selling some of the food stuffs and livestock to raise money to care for my family. My community is mainly a farming community with strong family ties. My elder son aspires to be an petrochemical engineer while my younger daughter aspires to be a lawyer and I am very committed to seeing them achieve their dreams since I was not able to achieve what I actually aspired to be. I really loved reading and playing football during my leisure periods as a child and currently continue to read at my leisure hours.

My Business

I am currently into both subsistence and commercial farming. I produce maize, cassava, plantain, vegetables such as tomato and green pepper in quantities large enough for commercial purposes. I also raise livestock such as goats, sheep, pigs and poultry for sale. Since food is an important component in keeping a healthy being, these goods are in constant demand which makes the business quite good though very demanding. This business was chosen because my father was already into farming before the unfortunate incidence happened so I had some guidelines from him and from other relatives and friends since the community is mainly a farming community. Last two years, I took a loan of about Ghc 3000 and invested into the farm. Currently, I have an amount a little over Ghc 6000 after paying the loan. The proceeds from the the farm is used to pay for my wards' tuition fees and the rest reinvested into the farm. I want to acquire acres of land and begin cashew and cocoa plantation in larger quantities for export and for this I will require your assistance.

Loan Proposal

The loan, when secured, together with some savings, will be used to clear farmland and to purchase seedlings for growing during the next farming season. I intend to start cocoa and cashew plantation for export. Labour for clearing farmland will amount to about USD500 and purchase of seedlings will amount to about USD100. Also, additional cost for planting of seedlings and purchase of fertilizer will amount to about USD200. I am looking forward to start exporting products to other countries and also supply raw materials to local factories for processing. I would also want to create a partnership with local farmers with the same interest so we can share ideas and form a strong bond. Others will also benefit from the monies they receive from their parts they play in clearing farmland and planting of seeds. This will enable them them to cater for themselves and their families. The government will also benefit from the tax that would be paid from the sale of these products. I expect to maximize profit up to about 300% from the initial capital I invest.
